When I try to start Verify-QC, I receive a warning message about the dongle. What can I do?

Users may be presented with one of two possible warning messages when starting Verify QC:

  1. Dongle not found:

    Dongle not found

A dongle must be connected to either a USB port or a parallel port on the computer before the program will run. Check that the dongle is present and securely connected.

  2. Dongle Expired:

    Dongle Expired

Dongles are enabled for a specified numbers of days. The days count down whenever the system is in use. Repeated warnings are issued as the dongle approaches its expiry date.

The user can extend the period of validity by obtaining an upgrade code from the VERIPOS Helpdesk. If the warnings are ignored and the dongle completely expires, the program will shut down and with older versions of Verify-QC this will result in no longer being able to launch the program.

For Verify-QC Versions 1.12 and above

When launching Verify-QC with an expired dongle you will be greeted by the expired dongle screen displayed above. The detailed procedure is as follows:

  1. Click OK on the expired dongle page and the Upgrade Dongle window will open, containing a 32-character Status Code. The Status Code is required by the HelpDesk in order to generate an upgrade code. Either copy the code from the screen, save it to a file, or copy it directly into an email. A separate code is required for each dongle.

  2. When the upgrade code is received from the HelpDesk, go to the “Upgrade Dongle” window
if you receive a code in the email simply copy and paste into the “Received Code” window
and click Upgrade to apply the code and upgrade the dongle.

If you receive a .dsf upgrade file from the “Upgrade Dongle” window select Load and browse to the location where the file is stored. Select the file and click the Open button the upgrade code should be loaded into the “Received Code” window then click Upgrade to apply the code and upgrade the dongle.

  3. After accepting the code, a four-character verification code will be displayed.

Please note this code and email it to the HelpDesk.

The success of the upgrade may be verified by selecting Help > Dongle > View from the main menu of Verify-QC. The screen will show the services enabled and the days remaining.

For versions 1.11D and older of Verify-QC

A small utility program, "DonView" is provided for use in these circumstances. From the Windows "Start" menu, locate the "Veripos" program group and select the "Verify-QC v1.10" folder. This folder contains a shortcut labelled "Launch DonView". Click this link to open the "Dongle Viewer" window:

This initially displays the dongle ID and a list of the services available. Ticks indicate which services have been enabled for this dongle. Click the "Status" button to display the current 32-character Status Code: The Status Code is required by the VERIPOS Helpdesk in order to generate an upgrade code. Either copy the code from the screen or save it to a file (Save button). It is preferable to save as accuracy is essential. Click OK to close the dialog. You must submit your dongle upgrade request to the VERIPOS Helpdesk, supplying the Status Code and specifying whether any additional services are needed and how many days are required. Whenever possible, use email since the upgrade code will contain many characters and accuracy is essential. The Helpdesk is available 24 hours per day and 365 days per year:
